Dr. Hyun Bae, Medical Director at The Spine Institute Center for Spinal Restoration, received top honors as the safest surgeon in the greater Los Angeles area based on his low complication rates for surgeries performed at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.

Orthopedics This Week, a prestigious industry publication and recipient of the MORE award for Journalistic Excellence in Orthopedics, recently published its list of top-rated spine surgeons in the largest metropolitan areas of the U.S., with Dr. Bae taking the top spot among Los Angeles-based surgeons.

Researchers analyzed information on 2.3 million procedures from 2009-2013, including three types of spinal fusions surgeries, and accounted for factors like the health and age of the patient to arrive at their results. Overall, the data suggests that surgeons in the United States perform well and have extremely low complication rates, ranging from just two to four percent.

Dr. Bae is a leader in cutting-edge stem cell research and is currently just one of three physicians in the U.S. testing adult stem cells in the treatment of spinal injuries. Dr. Bae is also a national leader in advanced surgical procedures and technologies, using his vision and expertise to redefine the field of spinal surgery.

Dr. Bae has also been named to LA Magazine’s list of super doctors, an honor bestowed on approximately five percent of physicians in the state through peer nomination, review, and evaluation.

The Spine Institute Center for Spinal Restoration is at the forefront of spine surgery, pioneering groundbreaking spinal procedures and helping patients overcome unmitigated back and neck pain without compromising quality of life.
